A Traditional Mountain Farm beneath the Skjækerfjella Mountains

Mokk Farm is a traditional mountain farm in Steinkjer, beautifully situated on the edge of the high mountains, right by the border of the Blåfjella-Skjækerfjella National Park. This is the perfect base for memorable outdoor adventures.

Hike to Norway’s Geographical Centre

Take a trip to the very heart of Norway! Here, you can enjoy the tranquility of nature and recharge your body and soul. It’s a great hike both summer and winter, with well-marked trails.
 

Park your car at Lustadvatnet lake, 7 km from Mokk. This is the gateway to the Skjækra Protected Landscape Area and the Blåfjella-Skjækerfjella National Park. The trail to Norway’s geographical centre is laid with wooden sleepers and winds through gently rising terrain, making it an easy and enjoyable hike. The round trip distance is about 20 km.

Along the way, you’ll be treated to stunning views of the Skjækerfjella mountains inside the national park.
 

When you reach the centre point, we recommend taking a break in the lean-to shelter, where you’ll find a fire pit with firewood provided.

Alternatively, you can start the hike from Mokk Farm. This route takes you over more open mountain terrain, offering fantastic views. This trip is slightly longer — approximately 14 km one way.

Kårhuset is a charming house by the farmyard, with 5 bedrooms and a total of 9 beds. The house resembles a traditional Trønderlån (a typical long farmhouse from Trøndelag), with a cozy living room, spacious kitchen, newly renovated bathroom, and toilet. The house is fully equipped for self-catering.

We rent out Kårhuset either on its own or as an additional accommodation option for larger groups staying in the main house.
